Some are of the view that humanistic psychology does not conflict with Islamic teachings, while on the other hand, what is offered by these schools is contrary to Islamic teachings. The first group, views humanistic psychology as representing the voice of Islam. Meanwhile, the second group said that they are over-optimistic if they make humans as the sole determinant of human resource development, while in it there is a role for God. Starting from the different perceptions of experts on this matter, this study intends to present descriptive normative information through a critical analysis of human potential so that the concept of Islamic education can be mapped and the views of humanistic psychology. With that, it is hoped that it will be clear which side of humanistic psychology is appropriate and actually contradicts the Islamic point of view, especially in seeing human potential. The conclusion of this study is, in the perspective of Islamic education, humans are a unique entity because they have the potential to exceed other creatures. One of its peculiarities is related to its multi-dimensional form and even to create it, God had a dialogue with the Angels. Meanwhile, the humanist psychology school views humans as having needs and tendencies to self-actualize. Although all humans have this ability, only a very small percentage of people have achieved it.
