Abstract

Students' motivation and independent learning are very important in helping students to obtain good learning outcomes and learning is one of the main tasks of students. In fact, it was found that the phenomenon of students' low motivation and independent learning in SMA Negeri 08 Rejang Lebong, students' lack of desire to learn, lack of understanding of students in learning. One type of guidance and counseling service that can be used to increase students' motivation and independence in learning at school is information service using audio-visual media. Therefore, the formulation of the research problem is whether there is an increase in students' motivation and learning independence before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the provision of information services with audio-visual media. The purpose of the study was to reveal whether there were differences in students' motivation and independent learning before (pre-test) and after (post-test) providing information services with audio-visual media at SMA Negeri 08 Rejang Lebong. This research is a quantitative research with a Quasi Experiment model with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. How to collect data through a Likert scale. Data were analyzed using Paired Samples T-Test with the help of SPSS version 20.00. The research findings show that in general, information services using audio-visual media are effective in increasing students' motivation and learning independence in schools. In particular, there are differences in students' motivation and independent learning at school in the pre-test and post-test after giving treatment using information services with audio-visual media. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that students' motivation and independent learning in schools can be improved through information services using audio-visual media. This study shows the importance of implementing information services using audio-visual media in schools by school counselors so that they can increase students' motivation and independent learning in schools.
