Abstract

Radical actions are still often associated with religion, especially in understanding religious texts. For this reason, the teacher's role in understanding religious texts is very important. As one of the counter-radicalism actions, it is necessary to examine the understanding of religious texts to the prospective religious teachers themselves. So, the researchers investigated the understanding of religious texts on Islamic religious education students as prospective teachers. Researchers underwent qualitative descriptive research by distributing questionnaires and conducting focus group discussions. The results show that Islamic religious educationstudents as prospective teachers have a non-literalistic understanding of religious texts. In addition, radicalism is a completely rejected concept.
